New Zealand is a beautiful resourceful country. It is full of mountains, beaches, valleys, and many pretty sites. I plan to travel there in the future, to explore and to meet new people. New Zealand is called Aotearoa in Ma¯ori, which means Land of the Long White Cloud. It's pretty isolated, being 1250 miles across to Australia. Its closest neighbors in the north are New Caledonia, Fiji, and Tonga. New Zealand’s land area is 103,483 sq. miles. The capital of New Zealand is Wellington. The largest city is Auckland, 369,300, and Christchurch, 334,100 .

New Zealand's two main components are the North Island and the South Island, separated by Cook Strait. The North Island (44,281 sq. mi) is 515 mi. long and has volcanoes in its south-central part. This area contains a lot of hot springs and beautiful geysers. South Island (58,093 sq. mi) has the Southern Alps along its west coast, with Mount Cook (12,316 ft; 3754 m) the
highest point.
New Zealand is full of mountains, hills, valleys, and beaches.

New Zealand Climate:
The climate of New Zealand varies wherever you are. The Mountains provide a shield from the westerly winds, therefore breaking new Zealand into dramatically different temperatures.
The mean annual temperature ranges from 10°C to 16°C in the North Island. the coldest month is July, and the warmest around January or Febuary.
